    U.S. Poet Laureate Reading and Webchat
    "National Poetry Month: A Conversation with Natasha Trethewey" was hosted by the American Corner in the Main Library, Crescent Building, on Tuesday, April 22nd. The program consisted of an interactive video webcast of a poetry reading by Natasha Trethewey, the U.S. Poet Laureate, and Christopher Merrill, Director of the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa, who read their poetry and then fielded questions via live web chat.     Expanding Cambridge Journals Collection
    The Libraries Deanship is pleased to announce that it has expanded the collection of Cambridge e-journals. Our Cambridge e-journals subscription now provides access to current issues of over 300 leading academic journals in Science, Technology and Medicine and the Humanities and Social Sciences.     Scopus (New Database)
    The Libraries Deanship is pleased to announce that the United Arab Emirates University now subscribes to Scopus from Elsevier. Scopus is an abstract and citation database that covers more than 20,500 titles from more than 5,000 publishers.     New E-books for the UAEU Community
    The Libraries Deanship is pleased to announce that it has recently purchased a new collection of e-books from Cambridge University Press. This includes around 900 titles covering the following subjects: Law, Education and Middle East Studies & Islam.
    This collection and all other e-book collections are accessible to the UAEU community through the Library website.

  • ESL and Applied Linguistics Resources
    The Libraries Deanship is pleased to announce that the American Corner (in the Main Library, Crescent Building, D2) has recently acquired more than 200 academic books in ESL and Applied Linguistics to support students in learning English, as well as graduate students and faculty in their research in University College, Education, Linguistics and Translation.   • NEW! Text-to-Speech Software for the Blind
    The Libraries Deanship recently purchased IBSAR from Sakhr Software – an Arabic/English Text-to-Speech software for the blind and visually impaired. IBSAR is able to convert text to audio using library PCs (headphones required), or onto MP3 audio devices for listening on the go. An additional feature is the OCR scanning component, which reads “scanned” printed documents and images and translates them into electronic files that are able to be edited.
