During the week of June 15th, 2014, the Libraries Deanship, in coordination with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), provided various workshops for Public Services library staff to enhance Information Literacy instruction to students. click here for more information
On June 2nd, the American Corner, Libraries Deanship hosted the program “Change Your Life: Forks Over Knives!” as part of its ‘To Your Health’ series. The purpose of the program, held in the Crescent Building Auditorium, was to open discussion surrounding major health issues and diseases affecting the UAE that could be averted, and included the documentary film “Forks Over Knives,” followed by a webcast discussion with Dr. Pam Popper. click here for more information
As part of Women’s History Month the Libraries Deanship – American Corner celebrated “Women in Aviation” with a presentation to Engineering students on March 19th by Ms. Jeanne Miller from the American Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Jeanne is the Embassy’s Financial Management Officer, as well as a pilot for many years. The timing of her presentation coincided well with the College of Engineering’s recently launched minor in aerospace engineering for 26 men and women students in mechanical engineering. These, along with other engineering students, attended her talk. In fact, the President and Vice President of the newly formed Aeronautical Engineering Student Society were among the first to join the audience. click here for more information
On February 24th, 2014, the American Corner of the Libraries Deanship hosted a very successful one-day workshop, “Creating Information Literacy Tutorials in iBooks” in the UAEU Crescent Building Auditorium. This workshop was held in conjunction with the Information Literacy Network of the Gulf as a Professional Development Program to promote the use of educational technology, in this case Apple iBooks Author, in creating online, interactive Information Literacy (IL) tutorials for students. click here for more information
