Moreover, Reference houses a collection of non-circulating reference books and periodicals.
Staff are available during regular library hours to assist students and staff in using the collection, and to answer requests in person, by telephone, and online via email or Ask a Librarian .
Ask a Librarian:
Ask a Librarian is an online reference service that allows students and staff to submit questions about library collections and services, or how to find information.
Remote Access:
Remote online access to electronic resources and tools is available to all current University members. University email username and password is needed for authentication.
Special Collections:
The Special Collections contains various collections, including the Emirates Collection, which supports students in Emirates Curriculum courses. The Emirates Collection documents the history and development of the UAE, including United Arab Emirates University, in various formats. Library Instruction/Information Literacy:
Not all interactions of guiding users in finding what they need take place as one-to-one session at the Reference Desk. The task of showing students how to use the library is also accomplished through formal classroom teaching, and through library tours and orientations as requested by their faculty.
Document Delivery:
Document Delivery service assists students and staff with their scholarly research by obtaining library materials unavailable in our collections. Requests may be made through the online ‘ Document Delivery ’ e-form, and may include copies of journal articles, chapters in books, conference proceedings and other documents.
Course Reserves:
To ensure that all students enrolled in a course are able to get assigned materials, the Library offers Course Reserves at the Circulation Desk. Course Reserves are personal or library materials placed by faculty on Reserves for their students and are searchable online by the Professor’s name or the Course Name/Number.
Book Purchase Request:
Students and staff may request books or other items for the library to consider purchasing if those items are not available in the library collection. Requests can be made by filling out the ‘ Request a Title for Purchase ’ e-form.
